What does AP stand for?
Products shown on this site
Tell us if the items listed (ie laptops, desktops etc) are simply information about what we see in the schools or area they available for purchase as well? If it is the latter, what are the prices?
The products shown are the items we purchase for schools and are intended primarily so that administrators can see more detail on the hardware and peripherals that they want to purchase. There is an employee purchase plan that is administered by the HR and Purchasing Departments at the Ed Centre. Information on the EPP can be found on FirstClass in Conferences - Technology Information - Employee Purchase Plan. If you have questions on the EPP, please direct them to Brad Hill at the Ed Centre.
If it for info on units in the schools, what about the HP netbooks?
The only HP netbooks we have in the Board came from a grant program through HP three years ago. We currently have a contract for Acer Netbooks as the result of a competitive bid process that we are required to follow under the Ontario government procurement rules. Consequently, at present, we are permitted to order only Acer Aspire netbooks.
And what the heck is the Ontario Electronic Stewardship Fee?
This is a small fee that we are required to pay (as are all electronics retailers in the province) on all electronic devices sold in Ontario. The money collected through this fee are used to fund the free electronics (e-waste) programs in Ontario.
